<image:title>Teen Counseling — True Hope Christian Counseling - Develop Healthy Coping Skills To Thrive</image:title>
<image:caption>It is stressful to be a teenager. Teens are negotiating a time in life where their performance and social standings are judged by society in a way they have likely never experienced before. To cope, many turn to unhealthy strategies - looking to distract from emotions and replace shame with external validation instead of with their identity in who Christ has called them to be. At times, this can take the form of avoidance, procrastination, anger, substance use, self-harm, sex, disordered eating, bullying, etc. By uncovering and addressing the root sources of pain and shame through teen counseling, we can help replace these behaviors with healthy coping skills enabling teens to not only better face their current circumstances but eventually apply these skills to the heightened stresses they will inevitably encounter later in life. In this way, the teenage years serve as a crucial time because intervention into unhealthy behaviors now can have profoundly positive impacts in adulthood.</image:caption>

<image:title>Teen Counseling — True Hope Christian Counseling - Heal from Anxiety and Depression</image:title>
<image:caption>Despite the increasing prevalence of mood disorders in our teenage population, anxiety and depression often go undetected, untreated and are even written off as “dramatic” teenage reactions. Yet, these disorders are very real and present not only crippling emotional and behavioral changes, but even involve physical symptoms as well. The early detection and treatment of anxiety and depression in teens is crucial in their development and in promoting long term emotional, mental and spiritual health. We work with teens to target anxiety and depression through a holistic approach that acknowledges their hurt and uncovers the underlying sources of worry, fear and shame. We look at how these paradigms fit within their theology - ultimately realigning their expectations for themselves through their identity in Christ rather than in society’s expectations and judgements of performance. This allows teens to find light through relationship with Jesus and to find hope in God’s sovereign plan.</image:caption>
    </image:image>

      <image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5d65ec6fea31cf0001a1a523/1568675809913-IU71Q5CPA81KHZFA9N2A/image-asset.jpeg</image:loc>
      <image:title>Teen Counseling — True Hope Christian Counseling - Improve Parent-Teen Relationships</image:title>
<image:caption>Child-parent conflict often arises when a child reaches adolescence and begins to develop their own values, beliefs and morals. With an increasing desire for independence, teens can feel frustrated operating within the structures their parents have set about for them - and yet, these structures are important as they scaffold the teen’s transition to adulthood and guide them in their development. The parent-teen relationship suffers when parents confuse their own fears and their own desire for a close future relationship with their child with truly readying their teen for adulthood. Ultimately, the goal of the teenage years is to prepare your teen to live life without their parents’ daily influence, and focusing on this objective provides clarity and consistency for both parents and teenagers. Through counseling, we help parents approach their children as God does - with patience, grace, love and righteousness. Improving communication and realigning goals between parents and adolescents leads to deeper relationships that allow children to gradually grow in making their own decisions, lessens the chance of codependence or rebellion and ultimately promotes the teen’s development into a god-fearing, contributing member of society.</image:caption>

<image:title>Counseling for Anxiety — True Hope Christian Counseling - How Can Counseling Help You Overcome Persistent Anxiety?</image:title>
<image:caption>Anxiety symptoms can be not only deeply uncomfortable but can also hold you back from fully enjoying life and pursuing growth. You may find yourself dreading or avoiding social situations, career opportunities, or even everyday experiences. This can affect your relationships, career, and personal progress, and may contribute to other mental and physical health challenges. However, it’s important to remember that there is hope, and counseling can offer a compassionate space where you can share your feelings, heal from your fears, and ultimately find a way to overcome them without fear of judgment. Through targeted support, counseling plays a vital role in managing anxiety and guiding you toward healing. <image:title>Counseling for Anxiety — True Hope Christian Counseling - Is Counseling for Anxiety Right for You?</image:title>
<image:caption>Do you feel frequently plagued by feelings of anxiousness and worry? Do you find it difficult to slow and filter your thoughts as your mind races? Are you constantly faced with thoughts of worst case scenarios and possible dangers? Anxiety is a normal response to stress that everyone experiences. However, when it becomes persistent and overwhelming, interfering with daily activities and causing significant distress, it may be indicative of an anxiety disorder (ie generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, specific phobias). <image:title>Marriage Counseling — True Hope Christian Counseling - Heal from Infidelity</image:title>
<image:caption>Infidelity is one of the most devastating experiences a couple can endure. It shatters trust, damages self-esteem, and often leaves both partners feeling lost and broken. If you are navigating this painful journey, as a counselor, my heart goes out to you. The road to healing is long, but it is not impossible. Supported by professional counselors, you’ll engage in open, honest communication through which both partners can express feelings and take responsibility, allowing space for forgiveness—a challenging but essential step. Rebuilding trust requires consistent, transparent actions over time and thus, we will work to re-establish clear boundaries and safeguards to protect the relationship moving forward. This process also involves personal and spiritual growth, with each partner seeking to understand and overcome the underlying issues that contributed to the betrayal. With God’s grace, intentional effort, and compassionate support, at True Hope Christian Counseling, we can walk with you through affair recovery. Know that with commitment to the process, and through a gradual process of ups and downs, hope and healing are possible, leading to a relationship that is stronger and more resilient than before.</image:caption>

<image:title>Marriage Counseling — True Hope Christian Counseling - Improve Communication in Marriage</image:title>
<image:caption>Communication barriers in couples often stem from the unique backgrounds, experiences, temperaments, values, and cultures that each person brings to the relationship. It can feel frustrating when it seems like you’re speaking different languages, leaving you with the impression that your spouse just “doesn’t understand” or is “always upset,” no matter what you do. These difficulties can lead to conflict, creating distance and bitterness in your relationship. We approach communication issues with compassion, recognizing the importance of understanding each individual’s nature as well as the unhealthy patterns that may be causing conflict. By identifying these patterns, we can work together to introduce new, healthier responses that reflect the love and teachings of Christ—such as patience, self-control, love, forgiveness, and empathy. Our goal is to foster an environment where both partners feel heard and understood, ultimately helping you reconnect and strengthen your relationship.</image:caption>

<image:title>Marriage Counseling — True Hope Christian Counseling - Reconnect with Your Spouse</image:title>
<image:caption>In our culture, it is common to think of connection in terms of physical chemistry, shared interests, or just the general ability to have “fun” together — but the reality is that true emotional connection is rooted in a much deeper foundation. It is a bond cultivated when you feel safe together and intentionally create space where each of you can feel seen, known and valued. In this way, it is less about surface-area similarities that you share with your spouse and is more about the intentional, consistent behaviors chosen by you and your spouse to not only create but also maintain this safe space and in turn, a deep bond. As humans, we are spiritually and biologically wired to connect — making it even more crucial to nurture this connection and heal disconnection. The loneliness you feel is painful and desiring deeper and meaningful connection is not only normal…it’s human. By identifying the root causes of emotional distance in a marriage (ie broken promises, complacency, distraction, criticism, expectations etc), you can take targeted steps to repair the damage and restore trust, safety and closeness with your spouse. As your marriage counselors, we are honored to guide you to both discover these underlying sources and adjust behaviors so that your marriage may experience greater connection and you can better tackle and enjoy life together. Together, we can deepen your bond, allowing you to navigate life’s challenges and enjoy a more fulfilling partnership.</image:caption>

<image:title>Healing from Church Hurt - What is Church Hurt?</image:title>
<image:caption>Church hurt refers to the emotional and spiritual pain that arises from negative experiences within a church community. This harm can stem from mistreatment, conflict, neglect, or even unintentional actions by church members or leaders. Whether it manifests as feelings of betrayal, judgment, or a lack of understanding, church hurt often leads to deep feelings of confusion and spiritual disillusionment. Such experiences can create significant barriers between you and your faith, as well as distance you from others in your church community. At True Hope Christian Counseling, we understand the profound impact that these church-related wounds can have on your relationship with God and your ability to trust others. We are committed to walking alongside you with compassion and understanding. Our goal is to create a safe and supportive environment where you can work through your experiences, find healing, and reestablish your sense of belonging within the faith community. You are not alone in this journey; we are here to help you navigate these challenges with empathy and care.</image:caption>

<image:title>Family Counseling — True Hope Christian Counseling - Hone Parenting and Co-Parenting Approaches</image:title>
<image:caption>One of the most common types of family counseling that we address is parental counseling, and we are here to help you grow in your parenting approach. As parents, we aim to raise children who can flourish as adults, and the weight of how best to accomplish this important work can be heavy and uncertain. Navigating a child’s many different life stages and differences in personality and priorities can often lead parents into either overly controlling behaviors or on the other extreme - allowing their children to rule their home. A home founded in either approach leads to chaos and oftentimes the development of problematic behaviors and coping skills in children. Parental counseling teaches practical tools and approaches that come from Biblical principles rooted in grace, love, and discipline so that you may find a balance in parenting and encourage your children to reach their true potential. In cases of divorce, the divide in family structure makes it all the more important to intentionally define priorities and best practices in parenting. Co-parenting counseling provides a place for mediation with an unbiased party to help sort through parenting goals where both you and your co-parent an express concerns and desires. By approaching co-parenting with grace and respect, you are better prepared to create environments with consistent rules that allow your children to thrive.</image:caption>

<image:title>Family Counseling — True Hope Christian Counseling - Resolve Sources of Family Conflict</image:title>
<image:caption>Conflict in family is inevitable, and it would be impractical to expect these interpersonal relationships be constantly harmonious. Rather, sibling rivalry, child-parent conflict, generational conflict with grandparents, conflict with adult children, and parent-parent conflict are frequently experienced within families. This conflict is often bred from mismatches in goals, communication styles, perspectives and personalities and while this makes it unavoidable, the ability to quickly resolve, resynchronize and reconnect following conflict is characteristic of health in a family system and can be an achievable goal for your family. Counseling looks to target existing conflict and create new patterns of conflict resolution to benefit your family long term. As family counselors, we help to identify the root motivations informing behaviors and perspectives of each member of your family (ie comfort, control, affirmation, safety, etc). While individuals often accomplish these goals in radically different ways, understanding and empathizing with these root fears can allow your family to realign goals - facing the problem rather than each other - to ultimately find compromise, compassion and even agreement on best practices within the family.</image:caption>

<image:title>Family Counseling — True Hope Christian Counseling - Improve Communication and Understanding</image:title>
<image:caption>Too often, individuals experiencing breakdowns in communication misdirect their efforts for resolution. In these cases, they believe that strong communication means hearing and being heard and attempt to improve communication by developing a listening ear, repeating their message again, and improving word choice. These skills certainly have a place in successful communication but are incomplete. Strong, healthy communication instead focuses on the depth of messaging so that true intentions are not lost in translation, and we can truly empathize with and understand each other. Through family counseling, a professional counselor can serve as a third party observer who helps highlight and bring these messages to the surface. We create space for each of your family members to share their thoughts and feelings and model healthy, connective communication by acknowledging intentions, fears and goals. It’s important to understand that empathy is not about agreeing with that perspective or anybody else’s behaviors or morality. Rather, it is about feeling the emotion and stress that that perspective brings so that we can meet each other where we are, enhance our connection and relationships, come to a better understanding of each other and implement positive changes to benefit the family system.</image:caption>

<image:title>Trauma Counseling — True Hope Christian Counseling - How can Counseling Help you Heal from Trauma?</image:title>
<image:caption>Trauma refers to a deeply distressing or disturbing experience that overwhelms your ability to cope, causing feelings of helplessness, diminishing your sense of self and emotional well-being. Traumas can stem from various situations such as physical or sexual abuse, natural disasters, witnessed violence, accidents, major health events or the loss of a loved one and no matter the context of your trauma, be patient with yourself. The impact of trauma varies from person to person and in the wake of unprocessed trauma, emotional, mental and physical symptoms are common. You might find yourself feeling numb or feeling “unlike” yourself and feeling forever changed by the experiences you’ve faced. You might find yourself feeling out of control or having difficulty regulating emotion - experiencing swings of anger, fear, sadness, shame. You might find yourself feeling misunderstood and wanting to withdraw from loved ones. Memories might replay in your mind constantly or perhaps you struggle to recall the painful events altogether. You might find yourself questioning your worth, feeling helpless and struggling to see the hope of a happier future. Studies show that a staggering 70% of adults in the US have experienced trauma in their lives, and if you are working through trauma, whether recent or in the distant past, you are not alone and you can find true healing to overcome this season and even thrive. As counselors, we are here to walk with you through your healing. Counseling provides a safe space to express your feelings, process your traumas and beliefs, develop healthy coping strategies, resolve the impacts of the trauma and ultimately, overcome this season.</image:caption>

<image:title>Trauma Counseling — True Hope Christian Counseling - Is Trauma Counseling Right for You?</image:title>
<image:caption>Deciding whether trauma counseling is right for you is a deeply personal decision but know that there is no “wrong time” to seek help. As a society, when we think of trauma, we often think of big “T” trauma where life or physical safety are at stake such as war, abuse, violence, etc. However, trauma can take other forms as well and while little “t” trauma (such as relationship loss/divorce, infidelity, legal or financial issues, interpersonal conflict, unmet performance expectations, etc) does not typically involve violence or disaster, it is still trauma and can cause significant distress. Healthy processing is crucial to healing from any form of trauma. If you've experienced a traumatic event and are struggling with symptoms like trouble concentrating, loneliness, anxiety, depression, loss of interest in activities previously enjoyed, flashbacks, changes to sleep or appetite, difficulty regulating emotions, or other impacts to your sense of self, your relationships, your career or your quality of life - it may be time to consider seeking professional help. It's important to remember that there's no 'right' way to react after experiencing trauma - everyone's response is different. Trauma counseling offers hope for those who have experienced distressing events by providing tools and strategies aimed at facilitating healing. While it may not erase painful memories completely, it can equip you with skills necessary for managing them effectively thereby improving your overall quality of life. If you're considering seeking help through trauma counseling, contact us and we can help you determine whether counseling is the right fit for you in this season.</image:caption>
